Quatro-Lavaloonion (Lava Hounds, Balloons, Minions)

Composition:
  • 4 x Lava Hounds
  • 18-20 x Balloons (14 in camp, 4+ in castle)
  • 20+ Minions
  • 3 x Rage Spell
  • 2 x Freeze Spell
  • 2-4 x Wall Breakers (Optional)

This strategy is used to attack town hall 10 and maxed out town hall 9 bases.

The key to making this tactic work is a very quick and specific deployment routine for your troops.  However once you have mastered it you can attack almost any base for at least a 2 star victory.

Step 1:
Deploy your 4 lava hounds at the start of battle, 2 on each side of a corner of the base. Separate them slightly so that when they fly in, they trigger any air traps on their flight path to the air defence towers.

Step 2:
Immediately deploy the clan castle balloons deep in the corner that your lava hounds came from.

Step 3:
Immediately deploy your 14 balloons, 7 along each flank behind your lava hounds.

Step 4:
Immediately deploy all of your minions in a large arc directly behind your balloons.

Step 5:
Immediately deploy your first 2 rage spells just in front of your balloons, deep inside the base.  Take care not to overlap so you cover the most area.  This will accelerate your balloons and minions towards the centre of the enemy base.

Step 6:
Drop your freeze spells one at a time where the concentration of fire is heaviest.  Try to freeze towers that target multiple units, like multi-targeting Inferno Towers and Wizard Towers.

In the example below, the left freeze spell is perfectly placed to disable the left inferno tower. However; the right freeze spell just misses the right inferno tower, which continues to damage the incoming balloons.

Step 7:
As soon as your troops converge on the Town Hall, deploy your third rage spell.  This will maximise the damage being done in the middle of the base, destroying Clan Castle troops, Heroes, Towers, and most importantly the enemies Town Hall.

Note that the rage spells are deployed in a triangle formation (like Mickey Mouse ears), barely overlapping so that they cover the most area possible.

Step 8a:
If you have destroyed the Town Hall but have not destroyed 50% of the base, look for an area to deploy your hero's where they can quickly destroy a few more buildings and get you that second star.

Always drop the Barbarian King first, and deploy the Archer Queen directly behind him. The King will act as a tank soaking up the damage, while the Queen attacks from behind destroying the buildings.

Don't forget to use your hero's abilities to make the most of their attack.

Step 8b:
If your troops have failed to destroy the Town Hall, quickly asses if your hero's can finish the job.

You will need to drop your hero's in the same corner that you deployed the Castle Troops. If you have some wall breakers, deploy these first to destroy the outer walls and give your hero's a quicker path to the centre of the base.

Always drop the Barbarian King first, and deploy the Archer Queen directly behind him. The King will act as a tank soaking up the damage, while the Queen attacks from behind destroying the buildings. Try and wait until you see the Town Hall taking damage, then activate your hero's abilities to destroy it as fast as possible.

If you think the Town Hall is still too well guarded, look to get a star by doing 50% overall damage. Find a spot where the most damage can be done in the quickest time possible (preferably outside of the range of base defences and walls).

Step 8c:
If you have destroyed the Town Hall and also have 50% damage, first of all give yourself a well earned pat on the back for winning 2 stars, then have a quick look to see if it is possible to get a 3rd star.

Drop your hero's where they will be most effective and always drop the Barbarian King first, deploying the Archer Queen directly behind him.  The King will act as a tank soaking up the damage, while the Queen attacks from behind destroying the buildings.

Wait until your hero's take at least 30% damage before activating their abilities, then sit back and revel in the glory of that illustrious 3 star victory.
